Should France and England establish joint patrols in the English Channel?

The French government has dramatically cancelled talks with home secretary Priti Patel over migrant crisis.

Boris Johnson said the UK wanted joint patrols to prevent more boats from leaving French beaches; joint or reciprocal maritime patrols in each other’s territorial waters, and airborne surveillance by manned flights and drones. But the French interior ministry has said Mr Johnson’s public letter to French president Emmanuel Macron – in which he called for joint patrols to prevent more boats leaving French beaches – as “unacceptable”.
