Learn in class, together

Join a classroom where you can practice te reo every day with others who share your passion.
• Learn through kōrero (conversation), games, and group activities.
• Build confidence faster through face-to-face practice.
• Feel the wairua and support of your kaiako and classmates.
• Day and evening class options.

Best for learners who enjoy interaction, need motivation from others, and want cultural connection through in-person learning.

Learn online with a kaiako

If you can’t make it to class, you can still connect in real time.
• Join live online sessions with your kaiako and classmates.
• Get feedback and support just like in a classroom.
• Complete activities and learning online.
• Study where suits you (Aotearoa only).
• You have reliable internet and your own device.

Best for busy learners who value structure, group connection, and regular support.

Learn online at your own pace

If you prefer flexibility, study online when it suits you.
• Work through lessons independently.
• Online check-ins with a kaiaromatawai (assessor).
• Fit learning around work, whānau, or commitments.

Best for independent learners who manage their own time but appreciate guidance.

Learn from your own space

Study from your home or local space (Aotearoa only).
• Receive your learning kete (resources) – no online work required.
• A local kaitiaki will visit to support and assess your progress.
• Learn in your community, in your own way.

Best for learners who prefer hands-on study, live rurally, or want personal, one-on-one support.

Kia kaha, kia māia - You've got this!

Many people feel nervous about starting te reo Māori. That’s normal.
We understand that everyone begins at a different level and what matters most is your willingness to start.
You don’t need to be fluent. You just need curiosity, commitment, and a bit of courage.
We’ll help you every step of the way.

Worried about online learning?

Learning online or E-learning is learning that takes place using digital tools like a computer or laptop. For some programmes this can include live Zoom sessions with your kaiako and other tauira.
