KING F7: Drivers, Fairways & Hybrids

The KING F7 family of drivers, fairways and hybrids is the most innovative lineup COBRA Golf has ever created. The F7 and F7+ drivers, integrated with COBRA CONNECT technology, provide golfers with a choice between oversized or traditional head shapes while delivering playable distance, unmatched feel and extreme forgiveness. The F7 fairways and hybrids incorporate COBRA’s iconic Baffler® Dual Rail System for forgiveness from any lie

COBRA KING F7 Driver

RRP: £279

At a time when driver prices have sky rocketed Cobra’s King F7 is remarkable value for money. All three TG testers agreed the combination of the squashed wide head and lively Fujikura Pro shaft gave the impression of the F7 being really easy to hit, which is a great place to start when picking a new driver.

The F7 basically offers 3 drivers from a single head which is really clever, and means it can be set up for a wide audience of golfers.

The F7 produced one of the longest single shots of the whole test (in the hands of our test pro - 316 yards carry) which proves it’s not all about forgiveness and no slouch when it comes to power. Throw in how the Cobra Connect grip will record every drive you hit and we reckon it’s a fantastic option for 2017.

COBRA KING F7 Fairway

RRP: £189

At TG we reckon lots of club golfers would welcome the F7 fairway into their bag as for amateurs it’s a really good design. Baffler rails have been around since the 70’s and whilst we can’t prove they help you get shots airborne, they do mean lots of mass is located very low in the head.

3 WOOD: The rails on the F7 3 wood have a shorter, less pronounced design to accommodate for a sweeping attack angle, allowing the club to glide easily through any lie for improved turf interaction.

5 WOOD: Whether you have a shallow or sweeping attack angle, the medium height rail design on the 5 wood works to reduce digging into the turf in order to retain more club head speed and distance out of any lie condition.

Cobra King F7 Hybrid

RRP: £159

Refined shaping of the sole Baffler rails improves turf interaction say Cobra, giving consistency from any lie. A single fixed sole weight is positioned to deliver a towering ball flight with a perfect blend of distance and forgiveness. A lighter, thinner 455 steel face increases face flex for maximum ball speeds on off centre hits.

If you’re ever going to get the best out of your hybrids they’ve got to be versatile and offer the opportunity to escape from all sorts of situations. And that’s where the F7 scores stacks of brownie points.

It’s railed sole means only a tiny portion of the bottom of the club is in contact with the turf so we reckon like us other golfers will fancy their chances of hitting the cute little F7 not only from the tee, fairway and rough but also skidding it out of fairway bunkers too

COBRA KING F7 & F7 ONE-LENGTH IRONS

Cobra have introduced their King F7 Iron with two distinct ways to play: Variable Length and One Length. Variable length is aimed at gaining maximum distance for every golfer, while the one-length irons are championed by Bryson DeChambeau and target consistency in every single swing.

COBRA KING F7 VARIABLE LENGTH IRON

RRP: £549

A progressive set construction (TECFLO) means each iron is engineered as an individual for its particular playing conditions. Hollow body long irons, half hollow mid irons, cavity back short irons and blade wedges are teamed with two different steels and groove shapes to improve distance, maximise feel and deliver control.

They are a decent value set for 2017 and the fact Cobra have invested in CNC Milling each club face and groove at this end of the market demonstrates how seriously they take every last detail.

COBRA KING F7 ONE LENGTH IRON

RRP: £549

The KING™ F7 ONE Length™ irons make their debut as COBRA’s first ever single-length iron set. Inspired by their relationship with PGA TOUR Professional, Bryson DeChambeau, for a simpler, easier way to play.

Each iron benefits from the same construction method and PWRShell faces as the F7 but every iron in the set is the same weight and length as a standard seven iron which Cobra say improves accuracy consistency.

We really like the theory. It’s just in practice we’ve not seen any tangible gains for real golfers, which you’d need to see to make the switch. The F7’s are a fantastic head, blending power and forgiveness into a single iron, if you’re interested in a set try F7 one length to, we’d love to know if you can see the benefits they actually bring to the party.
