Savage. Reserve. Indian Time. Words connect us, but have the power to hurt us deeply. Telling our Twisted Histories is a CBC Podcast that reclaims Indigenous history by exploring 11 words whose meanings have been twisted by centuries of colonization.



    CBC invited three artists to listen to the podcast and create art inspired by what they heard. These artists are:

  • Tara Francis, a Mi’kmaw artist from Elsipogtog First Nation, New Brunswick

  • Robin Paul, a Mi'kmaw artist from Newfoundland and Labrador living in Welamukotuk, Oromocto First Nation, New Brunswick

  • Kaia’tanóron Dumoulin Bush, an Onkwehonwe/French-Canadian illustrator and visual artist from Oshahrhè:’on (Chateauguay), Quebec
