Discover Taonga Puoro – the living voice of our ancestors

A new programme in Taonga Puoro, offered by Te Wānanga o Aotearoa with the support of Haumanu Collective, invites you to explore the living knowledge of traditional Māori instruments and the stories they carry.

Taonga Puoro is more than sound. It’s whakapapa, wairua and connection – to our people, our whenua and to each other. This programme invites you to explore ancestral sounds, their deep connection to storytelling, and their place within te taiao (the natural world).

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is New Zealand’s largest tertiary provider of mātauranga Māori education offering courses from certificate to master's level in toi (arts), te reo, tikanga Māori and hauora. Many of our courses have no fees and offer flexible learning options to suit busy lifestyles.

Reignite the sound of your whakapapa. Leave your contact details and join the mailing list today to hear more about Taonga Puoro at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
